The Far Out is a pop-funk band from the north shore of MA and includes Ellie Dolan on vocals & trumpet, Henry Zagarella on vocals & keyboards, Olivia Lowe on vocals, guitar & flute, Colin Senechal on sax & guitar, Ryan Fremont-Smith bass & vocals and Drew Phillips on drums.

The six lifelong friends have been playing music in one capacity or another since they were kids - learning together through jazz, theatre, a cappella, and orchestra. The multi-instrumentalists engage their audiences with high-energy grooves, powerful vocals, and funky horn lines, supported by undeniable chemistry.

The beginnings of The Far Out can be traced all the way back to Winthrop Elementary School in Ipswich, MA, where most of the group picked up their instruments for the first time. The guys even got together and workshopped a few bands throughout elementary and middle school (notably: a group called Rainbow Pants.) In 2014, they played their horns with the Mighty-Mighty Bosstones at the Outside the Box Music Festival, with Ellie & Liv supporting from the crowd on the Boston Common.

The gang ended up all over the country for college, pursuing their own musical and non-musical endeavors. But in the midst of the 2020 pandemic, with everyone back home, the jams started up again. A backyard Porchfest in lieu of summer festivals led to writing together. And as live music began to return to the world in the summer of 2021, The Far Out finally came together.

Since their formation in summer ‘21, The Far Out has quickly become a notable part of the north shore and Boston music communities. The band is involved with local organizations such as Lungstrong, Ipswich Caring, Team Haverhill, the Pelican Intervention Fund, and Friends of Ipswich Elementary Schools (FRIES). In the fall of 2023, they released their debut, self-titled EP just before taking the stage at River Ruckus festival, opening for artists Joe P and Phillip Phillips. Songs from The Far Out EP have been featured on 92.5 the River, as well as multiple WaveRadio Boston shows.
